Part
of Beth’s workshop curriculum, which she developed for
Kaiser Permanente is based on frequently asked questions,
writings, research and professional experience of Beth Miller.
"STRUGGLING WITH INFERTILITY IS A JOURNEY"
as a person(s) set out to arrive at a new destination.
The road signs are often helpful, yet at the same time confusing
because no one can tell you for sure if you will reach your
destination on time, or even at all. It is common to experience
an overwhelming variety of emotions, often two or three at
a time, such as:
| |
Sadness
Isolation
Anger
Fear
Emptiness
Blame
Disappointment
Inability to move forward |
The purpose of the group is to assist you in choosing goals
and evaluating your decisions about your future in building
a family. All of you will be starting from different places
in either your process of deciding to become a parent or considering
a childfree life style. Though your situations are unique
to you, there are many areas of commonality from which you
can gain support from others.
It’s as if you will all start out from “home”
and travel a long distance, ending up in a new land with clarified
goals, new tools to manage the journey and some decisions
about your next destination. Remaining open to the process
may lead you to some surprises, an opportunity to create new
networks as well as hope for direction about your future family
building. A journey with no map can lead to feeling lost.
This workshop will help you get focused on where you want
to go and how to get there.
